Things to do on Anna Maria Island in the Winter

Updated: Dec 16, 2018

While we do have some visitors who will dare to venture into the water at this time, many of our locals wouldn't dare without a wet suit.

December

In December, there are five holiday-related events, which include:

Kick off December events with the AMI Privateers annual Christmas parade, which starts on the north end's Bay Front Park and continues south all the way to Coquina Beach!

The Anna Maria Art League presents Winterfest and 2018 will be it's 29th year! Winterfest is held in the Holmes Beach city hall field and offers a splendid opportunity to view and purchase fabulous art.

Even if you missed the annual Christmas Tree lighting in Bradenton Beach, Anna Maria Island's largest live Christmas tree, you may still celebrate the holidays on Historic Bridge Street. This event benefits Roser Food Pantry and includes terrific live music.

Christmas on Pine Avenue (usually sponsored by AMI Sun on the second Friday in December)

Take a stroll down Pine Avenue, listening to Christmas carols and check out the shops for last minute gifts.

Mid-Winter

One of the most popular events in February is the the Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival in Cortez Village just over the Cortez Bridge. The 35th Annual event is being held today and tomorrow, February 17-18.
